It's all photoshop. I just use a lot of pen and airbrush tool. It's not the fastest way of working and it's tedious as hell, but it seems to work the best for me. It's the most like drawing or painting.

I should buy a tablet at some point to speed things up.

OMG, that was all done in photoshop!!! It looks like a render and a great one at that. I cant believe you are doing that and with out a pen tablet. My ex got me on and tho they take time to get used to, they are pretty damn neat to use. Anyhow, wonderful work man!! How did you do the chrome and actually know how to make it look like chrome? Did you use something for a reference?

I used a photo and drew over the top of it, so in one way it's sort of a photo manipulation.

Basically, i made the dark areas darker and the lighest parts white. There's a fair bit of imagination and trial and error, but you can do that digitally without it getting messy.

Having said that, you wouldn't get the same result just playing with contrast.
